Workers demonstrated outside its Geldard Road headquarters over plans to sell off the company to rival operator Shearings. Staff made their feelings known as directors held to discuss its future. Elsewhere other protestors, this time blind and disabled, were makin their feelings known over a decision by transport chiefs to end free fares. It was also a month in which the city's proud brewing heritage was celebrated on the streets of Leeds city centre and Leeds United signed a Scottish striker whose Elland Road career ended up taking the low road rather than the high road.
