Everton 1 Leeds United 1 - November 23, 1993
United old boy Ian Snodin threw a spanner in the works by denying the visitors the opportunity of jumping into second spot in the Premier League.
Transfer-listed Snodin, who joined Everton for £840,000 from Leeds in January 1987, played a leading role in the hosts' leveller on 67 minutes.
Ex-Leeds skipper Snodin's viciously curling centre was nodded on by Leeds-born defender Matt Jackson into the path of goal poacher Tony Cottee, who calmly tucked the ball away.
Just 13 minutes earlier, Rod Wallace had fired an undeserved opener for the Whites with a fine low strike which flew past Neville Southall, with the aid of a slight deflection off Andy Hinchcliffe.
United were poor in the first period but upped the gas on the restart, and John Ebbrell had to show his defensive mettle to deny Wallace a second shortly after his opener, when he blocked his effort on the goalline.
The point extended Leeds' unbeaten run to 11 games, but it was their fifth draw in six games.
LEEDS UNITED: Beeney, Kelly, Dorigo, Rocastle (Whelan 75), Wetherall, Pemberton, Fairclough, Wallace, Deane, McAllister, Speed. Subs not used: Hodge, Lukic.
