Striker Malcolm Christie was tonight handed a surprise debut during Leeds United's FA Cup clash with Northampton Town.
The former Middlesbrough and Derby County forward was registered by Leeds in time for their trip at Sixfields and took his place in Gary McAllister's starting line-up for the first-round replay.
Christie, who has been without a club since leaving Boro in the summer of 2007, has been training with Leeds this season in an attempt to regain full fitness after a string of serious injuries, and United recently confirmed that they were in talks with the forward's agent over a possible deal at Elland Road.
