How United's players rated

YEP's chief soccer writer Phil Hay gives his verdict on United players' performances against Crystal Palace
David Lucas: Through a combination of excellent defending from Leeds and woeful attacking play from Palace, Lucas was never seriously involved. Did the basics well and showed good handling. 6/10
Frazer Richardson: Created the third goal with the type of telling cross which Leeds need more of, and never allowed Palace to get in behind him. Part of a very assured defensive line. 7/10
Lubomir Michalik: Did his chances of a regular starting place no harm with a dominant outing in the centre of defence. Broke up numerous attacks, though his passing out of defence was a little erratic. 7/10
Paul Telfer: A surprise selection at centre-back, but Telfer's performance was immense. Tracked runners constantly and popped up as the last line of defence time after time. 9/10
Aidan White: A sparkling debut from the 16-year-old, whose contribution was virtually flawless. His positional sense looks good and he seems extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet. 8/10
Neil Kilkenny: Showed a lovely array of passing and added the creative variety that Leeds were missing at Yeovil. One of several players who are knocking loudly on the first-team door. 8/10
Jonathan Douglas: Reacted quickly to score the opening goal with a tidy finish, and he helped to silence Palace's midfield. Got forward more than he tends to, and his energy rate never dropped. 8/10
Fabian Delph: Already looks at home in the Football League, and Delph's skill in possession was without compare last night. Palace never got to grips with him or managed to mark him out of the game. 9/10
Andrew Hughes: Hasn't played since pre-season but didn't look at all rusty. Fitted comfortably into McAllister's formation and threatened to score the goal of the season with an audacious second-half lob. 8/10
Luciano Becchio: Improved again after his display against Yeovil and bullied Palace's centre-halves. A clever run and a solid header bagged his goal, and he deserved his standing ovation. 8/10
Jermaine Beckford: Scored with a bullet header, just seconds after his low shot seemed destined to nestle in the back of the net. Lively and tricky, which describes Beckford at his best. 8/10
