Bradley Johnson today admitted a mediocre start to the season would be "unacceptable" for Leeds United – but predicted a convincing recovery from their defeat to Oldham Athletic this weekend.
Johnson is vying to return to United's squad at Yeovil Town on Saturday after missing out on a place in the 16-man party selected for their 2-0 loss against Oldham last Saturday, and the midfielder intends to help Leeds fight back from a disappointin
g afternoon at Elland Road.

United fell to two second-half goals from Oldham's Chris Taylor, and the defeat was a sobering experience after their impressive victories over Scunthorpe United and Chester City in the first week of the season.

But Leeds have the chance to amend that result at Huish Park – the stadium where their place in the League One play-offs was secured last season – and Johnson does not expect one poor result to bring on a sustained run of poor form.

"It's early days but that doesn't mean we're not disappointed to have lost a game already," he said.

"We wanted to get off to a flying start and we won't be happy if that doesn't happen over the first 10 games or so.

"The players know what our targets are and it's not acceptable for us to fall below them.

"Obviously the most important thing is where you are at the end of the season, but players usually say that when results haven't gone their way. I think it's better to lead from the front.

"We've got a difficult task at Yeovil because they don't roll over for anyone but I know we'll come out fighting and hopefully bounce back."
