Child protection procedures may not have ben followed correctly at Haringey Council and concerns were being raised a long time before the tragic and abhorrent death of the tiny child known as Baby P.
Government officials had been alerted about the child protection problems at Haringey Council six months prior to the death of this baby.
In the same week that the public were alerted to these facts the Secretary of State for Children, Ed Balls, was seen on several occasions strolling around the Morley area and shaking the hands of local residents.
On the first occasion Normanton MP
Mr Balls was seen on the steps of Morley Town Hall where he helped to create a grinning photo opportunity with the local mayor.
He also helped to create some political spin when he was photographed sitting on a rusty children's roundabout whilst allowing himself to be described as the new parliamentary candidate for the Morley area.
The children of Britain need protecting but instead of staying in London last week to help sort out safety issues at Haringey Council, Ed Balls chose to look after his own when he came to Morley to kick-start his campaign to become the new MP for the district.
This selfish and self-promoting politician should hang his head in shame for deserting his post in London to help further his own political ambitions.
PAUL COCKROFT, Morley Resident. And yet another blunder by the Haringay Social Services. How on earth can these people who have been trained and paid for from public funds have failed to notice this child's horrendous injuries? The people from social services who attended this child are as much to blame for this child's death as are the monsters who killed him. They should all be sacked and prosecuted along with the people who were in charge. How many more innocent children are going to die?
