It's time to stop the petty attacks on Leeds United fans

YOU certainly need an extremely thick skin to be a Leeds United supporter and now even more so when personal, petty vendettas against Leeds are regularly happening live on the national radio station Talksport.
Since Leeds United were relegated to League One, Talksport's Drivetime presenter Adrian Durham has on a number of occasions irresponsibly encouraged Leeds haters to come out of the woodwork to openly criticise and laugh at United's misfortunes.

I
am sure many Leeds supporters remember Mr Durham using an entire three-hour radio show to laugh at Leeds' relegation to League One, only two days after the relegation game against Ipswich Town last year.

I also clearly remember him using another three-hour show to ridicule Leeds United on the day of their 15-point deduction in August last year.

Adrian Durham's latest three hours of Leeds bashing came on October 20, when he said that Leeds supporters should be banned from attending away games because of the problems at Millwall on October 18 and he also stated that Leeds supporters should also be banned, due to most of their away games being early kick-offs this season.

I am all for free speech radio, but free speech comes with responsibility and balanced views, but balanced views of Leeds United do not exist on Adrian Durham's radio programme, where Leeds supporters phoning up to defend their club get cut off and ridiculed by the presenter.

Leeds chairman Ken Bates was never off Talksport when he was the Chelsea chairman and I am very surprised that he has not retaliated to Adrian Durham's childish hatred of Leeds by phoning up live on air and demanding an apology.

***********
I WOULD like to thank Ken Bates for making Leeds fans pay top dollar to watch League Three football in the next few weeks.

First we have the Huddersfield match, where we will be paying up to £32 for a ticket.

After this game we have the 'massive' game against our long-term rivals from the north east, Hartlepool United. It would have been really nice of the club to reward fans loyalty by maybe putting this game in one of the cheaper categories. But no, not Ken Bates.

People say he is the saviour of Leeds United. He gave us Dennis Wise and League Three football for the first time in our history.

Clubs like Norwich, Sheffield United to name a few, know how to promote the club and attract a sound season ticket base. Sensible pricing Mr Bates and fantastic marketing skills. Maybe take a leaf out of the Rhinos?

I see Leeds have now been chosen for the TV game in the FA Cup next week on a Friday night. My seat will cost £20 for this fixture. I will be boycotting this game. Other clubs would do £10 maximum for adults and 'Quid a Kid' deals. But no not Ken Bates. He makes Peter Ridsdale look like a Saint.

The categorisation of some home league games has to be some sort of joke. I wasn't aware of a rivalry with Hartlepool.
Since when has Leyton Orient at home been a match that would register as average in terms of interest it would generate? Average or middling is what a Cat B price tag would indicate.
Highest crowd so far this season was a Cat C game. Mr Bates will obviously say he is running a tight ship - although we will probably have the highest wage bill in this division we also probably have the highest by far income in this division.
Mr Bates runs such a tight ship as chairman - that's why Abramovich had to rescue Chelsea as they were millions and millions in debt at the end of his reign. Match by match prices don't affect me as I am a season ticket holder but the crowds have been slightly dissapointing this season and I would like to see the club do a bit more. Ken blames the crowd for being fickle, yet claims it is a business. Any other businesses abuse their customers and expect them to come back?
As a business there needs to be some kind of drive or incentive to get fans in. Even if it's just for the cup game on Friday night. "kids for a quid - don't make me laugh" says Ken.
£32 to watch third tier football against giants like Hartlepool!?!?! We are not even selling the cheaper parts of the ground out this season.
Should have let little Dennis waste so much money in January Ken!!
