MASKED robbers armed with a knife and a hammer burst into a Leeds sub-post office and threatened staff.
The two robbers entered the newsagents in Dixon Lane, Lower Wortley, Leeds, between 8.30pm and 9pm on Thursday.

One of the men was brandishing a claw hammer and the other a large carving knife. Both wore balaclava masks.

The raider with the hammer threatened two assistants and ordered them to hand over money.

The two robbers fled the shop with the cash in the direction of Five Lane Ends. No one was injured in the incident, said police.

The man with the hammer is described as about 5ft 6ins tall and of chubby build. At the time he was wearing a black balaclava and dark jacket. The other man is described as 5ft 8ins tall, slim, also wearing a black balaclava and a silky black bomber jacket.

Witnesses should contact PC Scott Moore at North West Leeds CID via 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
