A Frozen fan from West Yorkshire racked up a total of 24 hours in seven in a Leeds movie theatre watching his favourite Disney film.

Paul Deakin, from Marsden, near Huddersfield, said he was “delighted” when he found out Frozen, one of his favourite films, would return to the cinema for a limited run to mark Disney’s 100th anniversary.

The 59-year-old former rail worker immediately purchased one ticket for every single showing at his local Showcase movie theatre in Leeds, booking the 4.45pm and 7.25pm screenings each day.

Having watched the film back-to-back seven times, Paul has spent a full day, 24 hours, watching Frozen in just seven days.

A self-confessed film fanatic, Paul said his house is a “shrine” to films, and places the Frozen films as his top-three favourite film series alongside Wonder Woman and Star Wars.

He said: “There’s something about Frozen that’s magical. I love everything about it, the animation, the music, the story, the soundtrack – it’s an amazing film.

“When I saw that it was being re-released, I was delighted and bought tickets to all of the showings straight away, I didn’t want to miss it on the big screen.

“I didn’t get bored at all watching the films back-to-back like that, as soon as the early showing had finished, I was looking forward to the next one.”

He continued: “Every time I watched it, I noticed something different, whether it was something to do with the amazing soundtrack or an element of the script I hadn’t noticed before.”

Paul, who is married, explained how he spent the 40-minute intermission between the ending of the first showing and the start of the second filling up on snacks and stretching his legs.

He missed the movie when it was on the big screen a decade ago, but caught the sequel in 2019 and immediately fell in love with the franchise. Since then, he has watched the films at home dozens of times.
