Rana Naved-ul-Hasan could make a shock return in Yorkshire's crunch Friends Provident Trophy semi-final at Essex Eagles on Saturday.
The Pakistani seamer, out since tearing a hamstring against Surrey in May, has played three second-string games in the past week as he steps up his recuperation – and has offered Martyn Moxon and Darren Gough food for thought ahead of the trip to Chelmsford.
And director of cricket Moxon isn't ruling out his prospects of making his comeback this weekend if he shows no reaction following a trio of games in the second team.
Moxon is hoping to pick from a full deck on Saturday, minus just Craig White and Michael Vaughan – with Yorkshire one step away from a Lord's final and potentially a first limited-overs trophy success for six years.
On a possible comeback for ex-Sussex ace Naved, Moxon said: "After playing three games, you'd like to think he'd be match-fit.
"Fingers crossed and touch wood, we'll have everybody back fit, barring Craig White, who is still recovering from the injection he's had in his hip/back.
"We've certainly more to choose from than we did a few weeks ago. But I think the captain knows his squad and we'll make a final choice when we see the pitch on Saturday.
"But we'll have to think about the Rana situation in particular."
England skipper Vaughan is definitely out as the ECB want him to rest before the Test series against South Africa, which starts next Thursday.
