Yorkshire County Cricket Club have been eliminated from this season's Twenty20 Cup competition after receiving a two-point deduction from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The Tykes were stripped of the points gained from a North Division game against Nottinghamshire Outlaws during an ECB appeal hearing in Taunton today, denying them a place in the last eight of the Twenty20 Cup.
Yorkshire appealed the ECB's earlier
decision to expel them from the competition for fielding an ineligible player against Notts, claiming the punishment was "manifestly disproportionate".
The White Rose county were thrown out of the tournament last week after being charged with including unregistered 17-year-old Azeem Rafiq against Notts at Trent Bridge on June 27.
But the ECB have now ruled that the two points awarded to Yorkshire after their nine-wicket victory be deducted, but confirmed that the result will stand.
Their ruling sees Yorkshire eliminated while Glamorgan advance to the tournament's quarter-finals as the leading third-placed team.
The ECB fined Yorkshire a further £1000 in addition to the £1000 the county were ordered to pay in legal costs after their initial disciplinary hearing.
A statement from the ECB read: "Given the serious breach of the regulations the panel find it appropriate to deduct the two points received by Yorkshire in the match against Nottinghamshire though the result will stand.
'Yorkshire are also required to pay £2,000 in total towards the costs of both hearings."
