Teen Leeds United forward Mateo Joseph has assessed when he will be 'Premier League ready' and made an exciting prediction about the future of the Whites.

Born in Spain to British parents, Joseph progressed through Espanyol’s Academy before joining Leeds in January 2022 and the 19-year-old striker has now started to make inroads to United's first team. Joseph appeared on the bench for the first time as an unused substitute for November's Premier League hosting of Bournemouth and was then handed a Whites first team debut when starting the third round Carabao Cup clash at Wolves the following midweek

Joseph again made the bench for the following weekend's league clash at Tottenham Hotspur in which the young striker was handed a Premier League debut when replacing Rodrigo with one minute left. Joseph was then handed another opportunity in Thursday night's mid-season friendly against Spanish hosts Elche in which the teen quickly made a positive impression after being broght on in the 61st minute.

Leeds are now heading home ahead of the return to Premier League action at home to Manchester City on Wednesday, December 28 and Joseph says he will leave it up to boss Jesse Marsch to decide when he is ready for consistent Premier League minutes. In his own view, if called upon, Joseph says he is ready now and is confident that Leeds will soon see the "fruits" of their talented youngsters coming through the ranks.

"Every player I think feels ready to be in the first team playing," said Joseph, asked by BBC Radio Leeds when he would be ready for regular first team action in the Premier League. "But that I think it is for Jesse and all the staff to see and to know. I think they are doing very well with the young players, giving some minutes and training and some advice and everything. I think they are doing quite well. Like every young lad chosen by them, we are going to see the fruits. We are going to see the good things that he is doing, the good work. I'm really happy and looking forward to it."
