Tearing up a tree trunk like a monkey was a first for Leeds-born Jamie Deane.
The 26-year-old, from Beeston, is a tree surgeon by trade but for the first time ever he decided to compete in the Great Yorkshire Show.

Jamie, who now lives in Wetherby, was in the heats for the Great British Pole Climbing Championship; just one of the many events at the legendary show.

He went head to head with a string of competitors from across the UK - including a 75-year-old - who tear up a 100ft-high pole using climbing gear and spiked shoes. The first to the top wins.

Jamie said: "It's the first time I've ever done this so I'm really nervous!"
