Farsley Celtic have handed temporary boss Neil Parsley the managerial reins until the end of this month.
And the former Guiseley manager has the chance to make the position his own if he yields an upturn in Throstle Nest fortunes over the next four matches – according to chairman Andy Firbank.

The club, who sacked John Deacey last Thursday, met with Parsley on Monday evening and he will continue in the caretaker role for the next three weeks and he is set to bring in an assistant shortly.

Firbank said: "Neil has been given the caretaker role until the end of October and we'll review it from there.

"It's the chance of a lifetime for Neil. I think he's raised the morale of the camp and everyone else.

"I spoke to the players last Thursday and they've no issues. I had a long conversation with the players' representative about what has gone on and rest assured, it's business as usual."

Parsley, assistant to Deacey, certainly enjoyed a head-turning start to life in the Celtic hotseat, with his troops swatting aside Blue Square North cellar- dwellers Hucknall 4-0 in convincing fashion on Saturday.

And Firbank is hoping that the upturn continues in the coming weeks.

He said: "We got a great result on Saturday. There were one or two doubters because we ended up playing against eight men, but you can only beat what is put in front of you.

"We've got a couple of players coming soon to help matters, although we're still picking up some injuries. Mark Jackson damaged his medial ligaments on Saturday and is out for several weeks, but Jamie Price is due back in the first team next Tuesday for the Setanta Shield clash with Altrincham."
