Wrexham 3 York City 1
York City were again left to rue missed chances last night after falling to a 3-1 defeat at Dean Saunders' Wrexham.
Boss Colin Walker called for a sharpness in front of goal but Simon Russell twice shot wide with just keeper Gavin Ward to beat while Craig Farrell, pictured, missed a 59th-minute penalty.

York paid the price when Joe Allen gave the hosts a 65th-minute lead and the Minstermen were then reduced to 10 men when Richard Brodie was sent off on 75 minutes after a second yellow. Neil Taylor effectively sealed matters with five minutes remaining and while Ben Wilkinson pulled a goal back, Marc Williams made it 3-1 with a minute left.

York have now slid to 17th in the Blue Square Premier and the Minstermen are back in action on Saturday at Woking.

Wrexham: Ward, Baynes, Steve Evans, Mike Williams, Tremarco, Spann (Mackin 79), Allen, Fleming, Taylor, Louis, Marc Williams. Subs Not Used: Anthony Williams, Kempson, Whalley, Proctor.

York: Ingham, Purkiss, Parslow, McGurk, Robinson, Rusk, Greaves (Brodie 68), Wilkinson, Russell (Kelly 86), McBreen, Farrell (Shepherd 76).

Subs not used: Mimms, Henderson.

Referee: R Fletcher (Derbyshire).

Attendance: 5,173.
